An horrific shooting at a school has taken the lives of two students and injured 15 others, some severely.
Governor Matt Bevin of Kentucky tweeted this:
“Tragic shooting at Marshall County HS…Shooter is in custody, one confirmed fatality, multiple others wounded…Much yet unknown…Please do not speculate or spread hearsay…Let’s let the first responders do their job and be grateful that they are there to do it for us…”
The suspect, a 15-year-old student, entered the school with a handgun and opened fire at 8 A.M. The 19 people treated for injuries were all believed to be students, including 14 of whom were treated due to gunshot wounds. Five others were treated for non-gunshot wound injuries.
The two people killed included a 15-year-old female student and a 15-year-old male student. “They was running and crying and screaming,” a witness said. “They was just kids running down the highway. They were trying to get out of there.”
Sixteen-year-old Lexie Waymon said: “I tried to run, but I fell. I heard someone hit the ground. It was so close to me. I just heard it and then I just, everything was black for a good minute. Like, I could not see anything. I just froze and did not know what to do. Then I got up and I ran.”
Police were seen leading a teenager away in handcuffs and said the suspect will be charged with murder.
Please send prayers for the families of the victims.
“We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.”
