The woman who refused to go in silence, but instead became an advocate against domestic violence after being severely burned by her evil boyfriend, has passed away today, at the age of 33.
Judy’s mother, Bonnie Bowes, said the following today: “That child suffered for two years to tell her own story, who has the strength to do it?”
What happened, two years ago, was truly heartbreaking. Judy Malinowski thought she had met her soul mate. But the man who was her boyfriend ended up setting her on fire horrifically one night. “I never knew that a human being could be so evil,” burn victim Judy Malinowski said. Her mother says that Judy has a message for women out there: “She wants everybody to know. She keeps telling me ‘Mom, tell them verbal abuse is the start of physical abuse,” her mother said.
She eventually decided to show the local news the extent of her horrific injuries, in order to show the world what kind of a monster her ex-boyfriend is. The results are extremely graphic and indicate just how serious her burns were.
According to Fox News: “Judy Malinowski was set to undergo her 52nd surgery this week, ABC 6/Fox 28 reported. She spoke to the station after her ex, 41-year-old Michael Slager, pleaded no contest Monday in Columbus to charges including aggravated arson, keeping her off the stand.”
Her GoFundMe pages tells the tragic story: “I write to you about Judy Malinowski, a beautiful, vibrant young woman and mother of two daughters. Judy overcame significant challenges in recent years, including opiate addiction and ovarian cancer, and appeared headed for a life of renewed possibility thru faith and family.
“Judy’s path to that new life was destroyed a year ago due to unthinkable horror. A man whom Judy had dated confronted her at a gas station, a struggle ensued, and the man doused Judy with gasoline and set her ablaze at the throat, watching as the flames engulfed her head and body.
The man was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Now that she has passed, should his sentence be changed to life?
