According to the Polaris Project, “In 2016, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children estimated that 1 in 6 endangered runaways reported to them were likely sex trafficking victims. Globally, the International Labor Organization estimates that there are 4.5 million people trapped in forced sexual exploitation globally.”
Now, a family and Police Department in Florida are highly concerned that a missing girl has been trafficked.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing girl who may be a victim of human trafficking, according to a Twitter post from the department.
The sheriff’s office says Leah Rosa Altman is a local girl who was last seen at 1154 E. 25th St. in Los Angeles, CA. She is 4-foot-9 and weighs about 90 pounds.
The department posted a picture of Leah wearing a colorful blouse with flowers as well as a photo with strands of her blonde hair secured by red, green and yellow beads.
