Over the weekend, an elderly woman was killed in a horrible accident during an African safari. Carol Kirken, 75, was killed by a hippopotamus while on an African safari in Tanzania over the weekend. She reportedly died in the arms of her son Saturday while on vacation.
Her daughter posted this message on Facebook:
“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of my mother Carol Kirken while on vacation in Africa with family on August 5th 2017. Due to the suddenness of her passing details of her funeral arrangements have not been finalized at this time. She touched so many lives during her 75 years on this earth. She will be solely missed.”
“I met Carol while working at Crittenton Hospital,” wrote a friend Monica Harrison. “She was kind, compassionate and an inspiration to so many people. I will always remember her laughter, smile, and the love she had for family and friends. She will truly be missed. Rest in peace Carol.”
According to her obituary, “Her husband and life partner Bill was happy to work behind the scenes to provide his own support and encouragement for Carol’s interests. He knew that he was ‘…the luckiest man in the world’ to have Carol for his wife and love.”
Please pray for her now.
“We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.”
